"Hidden, Revealed" Press Release :
Axel Zaren claims that he doesn’t exist, and that his EP titled « Hidden, Revealed » wrote itself, and that this press release/bio may be all in your head.
While we found the claim to be disputable as well as self-contradicting, the music does sound like a dug-up lost soundtrack to a parallel world where Jane Austen has been propelled into a futuristic David Lynch daydream (nightmare?).
Axel Zaren’s brand of « Techno-Romantic » electronic music conjure images of solitary mechanical androids writing melancholic love letters, the old-fashioned way, with ink and paper and sealing wax. A retro-futuristic world where said letters may never make it to their beloved recipients, but are still snooped on by the present listeners of this EP.
Sound messages and conversations sent from inhabitants of the past to the future and vice-versa, trying to build bridges and links between worlds.
We did however receive unconfirmed information from a so-called « Bureau of Unknown Things » hinting that, not only this Paris-based Canadian musician may be real, but that the parallel world he describes may also be real and will be decoded in upcoming « chapters » .
The « Bureau of Unknown Things » also told us that hints and transmissions will be dropped gradually over his website and in new releases over the year 2015.
Whether Axel Zaren is an escaped character from this fictional/real world or not, the imminent release of « Hidden, Revealed » on the other hand is real and the emotions it documents are very vivid and palpable.
